Product Overview
The Motorola MOTOTRBO R2 is a compact professional two-way radio designed for organisations that need dependable voice communication without unnecessary complexity. Lightweight, robust and easy to use, the R2 is well suited to Australian workplaces such as construction sites, warehouses, schools, retail sites, hospitality venues, events, logistics operations, manufacturing facilities and general commercial environments.
Available in VHF or UHF, the Motorola R2 can be selected to suit your radio system and operating environment. VHF is often preferred for open areas, rural sites, farms and larger outdoor environments, while UHF is commonly used in buildings, warehouses, factories, shopping centres, construction sites and urban workplaces.
MOTOTRBO R2 supports both analogue and digital DMR operation, making it a practical choice for new digital systems as well as businesses upgrading from existing analogue radio fleets. It provides straightforward push-to-talk communication, clear audio and durable day-to-day performance in a slim, comfortable radio body.
Each Motorola R2 is supplied as standard with a PMNN4600 2100mAh slimline battery, a stubby antenna matched to the selected frequency band, and a PMLN7008A 2-inch alligator spring belt clip. A higher-capacity PMNN4598 2300mAh battery is also available separately as an accessory for users who need extended runtime.
The Motorola R2 can also be enhanced with optional licence upgrades. These upgrades are activated using Motorola EID (Entitlement ID) licence codes, allowing additional software features to be enabled on compatible radios when required.
Frequency Band Variants
VHF — 136–174 MHz
Best suited to open outdoor areas, larger sites, farms, rural locations and applications where VHF coverage is preferred.
UHF — 403–470 MHz
Best suited to indoor, urban and built-up environments such as warehouses, factories, schools, venues, shopping centres, construction sites and commercial premises.
Note: UHF is the best all-round choice, if unsure.

The Motorola R2 is supplied with the PMNN4600 2100mAh slimline battery as standard.
For users who need longer runtime, the PMNN4598 2300mAh high-capacity battery is available separately as an accessory. This is not selected during radio purchase, but can be purchased later as an additional or replacement battery.
Optional Licence Upgrades
Motorola R2 Capacity Plus Single Site Licence — HKVN4985
Capacity Plus is a Motorola MOTOTRBO digital trunking feature for single-site radio systems. In simple terms, it helps make better use of available repeater channels by automatically sharing them between users and talkgroups. Without Capacity Plus, a radio system normally works on fixed channels, so users may need to manually change channel or may find a channel busy. With Capacity Plus, the system manages channel access more efficiently, helping larger teams communicate with less congestion. The R2 Capacity Plus Single Site Licence supports Capacity Plus operation with a 2 repeater limit.
SINC+ Single Input Noise Cancellation — HKVN4370
SINC+ stands for Single Input Noise Cancellation. It improves transmitted audio by helping reduce background noise picked up by the radio microphone. This is especially useful in loud environments such as construction sites, manufacturing areas, workshops, warehouses, events and logistics operations, where engines, machinery, tools or general site noise can make speech harder to understand.
Accessories Available

A wide range of Motorola R2 accessories is available to suit different users and working environments. Common accessories include spare batteries, multi-unit chargers, single chargers, carry cases, belt clips, earpieces, speaker microphones, surveillance kits and replacement antennas.
For fleet users, spare batteries and multi-unit chargers are often the most useful accessories, allowing radios to stay charged and ready across shifts. For security, hospitality, retail and events, earpieces and discreet audio accessories can help staff communicate clearly without disturbing customers or guests. For construction, logistics and industrial users, speaker microphones can make the radio easier to use while clipped to a belt or harness.
