5 reviews for Motorola XTS 2500 & XTS 5000 IMPRES Single Charger

  1. Bixby

Save yourself the hassle and use these chargers for your XTS batteries. After going through numerous aftermarket chargers and destroying batteries I finally bought one. This charger will charge Impress AND standard nicd and nmh XTS batteries. Charge time is around 2 hours.

  2. Elle

Awesome deal on a brand new Impres charger that is usually much higher in price direct from Motorola. Works great. Using it with no problems, well worth the investment.

  3. Bentham

Another wonderful well built Motorola Product! Very durable.

  4. Okee

As with any product made by Motorola, the quality shines through.

The good: A high quality, well-made charger which not only charges a variety of [XTS] batteries but also serves as a stand for a desktop handheld base station if you need that. All in all, a very nice unit for whatever you need.

The bad: This unit is made to charge and maintain the new Impress line of batteries (also charges NiCd and NiMH). As with anything new, the price of Impress batteries is still quite high when compared to the other types. Over time the price will drop enough to make them worth it to the average …. customer.

The chargers are well worth the money. Buy now.

IMPRES is impressive, or at least a good way to ensure battery reliability.

These are great chargers. They are the real deal, and feature Motorola IMPRES. For those that don’t know, this means that when you are also using a Motorola IMPRES battery, it will do periodic conditioning and alert you when the battery reaches the end of it’s useful service life and should be replaced.

This thing is designed to charge HT1000/MTS2000, SABER series, XTS3000/5000, and XTS1500/2500 type batteries. That’s basically all the yesteryear public safety and heavy industry radios. I am told they can also charge the current production APX [6/7/8/9] series, but you need an adapter pocket which might be hard to find.

They are of-course excellent battery chargers even when not using IMPRES batteries. If possible, try to buy one that has firmware version 3.4 or later. 3.4 is pretty common, and added compatibility with lithium batteries, which weren’t super popular yet when these things were designed. You can look on the bottom for a firmware sticker. It’s fairly luck of the draw, but most of the lower firmware versions will be out of circulation by now.

The only thing that this charger is missing is the display. The 6 pack “gang” chargers have it as an option. It is possible to hack one of these single unit chargers to add it, but if you are doing that you probably aren’t reading my review. The display tells you details about the battery’s health and charger activity, and is great if you have a fleet of radios and want to keep tabs on their level of wear and overall health.

I would not hesitate to recommend these battery chargers to any Motorola enthusiasts, or public safety personnel who use the radios and batteries designed for use with this charger.
